Proposing a Model for Property and Equipment Location Management in Libraries and Documentation Centers a Geographic Information System (GIS): the Case of the Central Library and Documentation Center at the University of Tehran

Abstract

Geographic Information System for building a library of classes.
Method/Research Design: For data collection descriptive survey was employed. For implementation data was entered into ArcGIS software by which analysis was carried out.  For display the results on the library floor map design method was used.
Findings: Location of holdings and equipment was determined as a result of searching in the database on the plans of different levels of the library and documentation center. The proposed model id developed using GIS based on the implementation reality through different stages.
Conclusion: The proposed model can help determining the exact location of equipment and holdings in a time saving fashion especially during inventory check process. Also, locating equipment and holdings would be possible by searching in the system. The model can help to building design.
