Purpose: Matching value engineering steps with available processes in resource acquisition policies in libraries.
Methodology/Approach: Content analysis. First the value engineering phases (information gathering, functional analysis, creativity, evaluating, development, and presentation) were introduced. In the next step, collection development procedures were presented and ultimately the value engineering phases were matched with different processes in collection development consisted of acquisition of resources, constitution of selection and acquisition committee, writing acquisition policy, selection of resources and equipment, selecting dealer, budget allocation, and order and supply section.
Results: Value engineering steps match with library processes like selection, collection, organization, evaluation, acquisition and the management of library resources' provision. Therefore, it can be used in libraries.
Conclusion: By scientifically employing value engineering in all parts and projects of libraries, there will be a save in budget and human resources and eventually the utmost efficiency will be achieved with minimum costs.
