The Relationship between Personal Knowledge Management Skills and Educational Performance of the Faculty Members of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the personal knowledge management of faculty members of ShahidChamran University of Ahvaz and their educational performance. The determination of the level of personal knowledge management dimensions and the investigation of the relationship between these dimensions and the educational performance quality are also among the particular objectives of this research.
Method: The current research is a descriptive-correlation survey. The statistical population includes the faculty members of ShahidChamran University of Ahvaz in the academic year 2017- 2018, 526 individuals. Using Krejcie and Morgan's table, 217 persons were selected as clustered-relative. The research tools included a personal knowledge management questionnaire and an educational performance questionnaire. They were distributed among the participants after evaluating their reliability as well as validity. The obtained data were analyzed by statistical methods of Pearson correlation coefficient, and Spearman’s correlation coefficient. To analyze the research data from S. P. S. S. Version 22 was used. To examine the status of personal knowledge management and the quality of educational performance, a one-sample parametric test was used, and to examine the relationship or lack of relationship between the variables, And to examine the relationship or lack of relationship between them, considering that for personal knowledge management in general and sub-scales of creative skills and collaborative skills, the significance level of the test is higher than 0.05. and the assumption of normality of the data was used. Regarding the sub-scales of self-learning, self-management, information literacy, exploration skills, a network of knowledge assistants, and perceptive skills, the significance level of the test is lower than 0.05 and the normality of the data can be assumed. Accepted and Spearman's non-parametric correlation test was used.
Findings: The results of this research showed that the personal knowledge management condition of the faculty members of ShahidChamran University of Ahvaz is relatively desirable with a mean of 3.92 Dimension of the self-learning evaluation with the mean of 4.02, the collaborative networked learning (CNL) with the mean 4, the perceptual skills with the mean 4.01 are at a desirable level, and the dimension of self- learning management with the mean 3.81, information literacy with the mean 3.94, exploration skills with the mean 3.94 are at a relatively desirable level. The status of educational performance with a mean of 4.25 shows the desirable status of educational performance among the current research community. Regarding the correlation coefficient (0.731) and P value (0.001), personal knowledge management at ShahidChamran University of Ahvaz has a positive and significant relationship with their educational performance. Also, according to the obtained coefficients, it can be said that between the dimensions of personal knowledge management, self-assessment with a correlation coefficient (of 0.653), self-learning management with correlation coefficient (0.630), information literacy correlation coefficient (0.632), skills Probability correlation coefficient (0.618), Knowledge network of correlations coefficient (0.577), Knowledge consciousness correlation coefficient (0.685), perceived skills correlation coefficient (0.582), creative skills correlation coefficient (0.0537), There was a positive and significant relationship between the correlation coefficient (0.546) and educational performance at the level (0.001).
Conclusion: The results of the research showed that the the personal knowledge management of the faculty members of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz is relatively desirable, the managers and authorities must try to promote it to a desirable programming level. Also, they must show more attention to the dimensions of knowledge consciousness, self-learning management, and exploration skills which have obtained lower grades.
