Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study evaluating the performance of the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults Libraries in Iran, using SWOT for strategic analysis. Design/Methodology/Approach: Data was collected using a questionnaire. Views of managers of libraries in Tehran and all central branches in other provinces as well as users of the Reference Library in Tehran were surveyed. Findings: Communication and interactions of the libraries with the Reference Library is weak. Branch Libraries throughout the country have little interaction with the Reference library in Tehran. Only few librarians are familiar with foreign languages. Most libraries don't have enough foreign sources in their collections. Conclusion: According to the SWOT matrix, with regard to internal factors, the libraries scored 1.96 out of 4 but in response to external factors they scored 2.34 out of 4.
