Abstract
Purpose: The Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) model is a conceptual model for enriching bibliographic records. This research introduces FRBR and elaborates on its advantages and disadvantages. Design/Methodology/Approach: In this paper, IFLA records and other literature on the FRBR model are reviewed. Findings: “FRBR” is a model for creating the maximum possible links between bibliographic elements. This model provides an appropriate information retrieval instrument for users and prevents duplication in cataloguing documents. Conclusion: The FRBR model must be noticed as an important phenomenon in organizing user-centered information; however, it should be only used in appropriate places.
