Abstract

Purpose: Investigating the role of Roger's diffusion of innovation theory and organization's readiness factors on the adoption of PREMIS based on members' viewpoints of Consortium of National Content.
Methodology/Approach: This is an applied research using survey method. The population consists of 19 numbers of the largest and the most significant libraries in Iran having digital content in the Consortium of National Content.
Results: According to experts' views, relative advantage with an average of 4, compatibility with an average of 3.5, organization’s readiness with an average of 3.46, observability with an average of 3.43, complexity with an average of 3.2 and trialability with an average of 3.06 had been respectively the most effective factors in employing PREMIS. Therefore, based on Roger's theory, organization's readiness to adopt PREMIS is above the average.
Conclusion: Using PREMIS is consistent with common values, previous experiences and potential users' needs. However, there exists complexity in understanding and using it. Since it is possible for organizations to examine and evaluate PREMIS even before adopting it and also the outcome of using it is noticeable, organizations expressed their readiness for adopting it.
