Abstract

This paper analyzes and evaluates research activities in the field of library and information science. The Congress of Librarians of the Organization of Management and Planning has been held for nine times. All the papers included in the book entitled the proceedings of the congress of librarians of the organization of management and planning were selected as the study population (118 in total). The methodology of this research was content analysis. Also some variables quantitatively taken into account were the number of the authors, the responsibility of the author, level of education, sex, number of Persian and foreign citations, number of pages, methodology of research and geographical distribution. Findings showed that researchers mainly focused on applied researches. The least used methodologies used by authors are: Delphi technique, qualitative research, historical research, system analysis, focus group, center interview, content analysis and comparative librarianship.
