Abstract
Information and communication technologies make access to information easy. Access to information alone is not useful, analysis and the way to make use of the information are of high importance. Information-based critical thinking is about decision-making, analysis and the application of information which enhances knowledge production through presenting new theories. Basically critical thinking is logical and deep thinking in which information is the main element. This paper explains the importance and necessity of improving critical thinking. Then through the evaluation of different literatures, discusses the specifications and skills of critical thinkers, their capabilitiesand possible obstacles to the process. There are four types of barriers to critical thinking: sociologi.cal barriers, psychological barriers, language obstacles and logical barriers
