Ethical Guidelines of the

Librarianship and Information Organization Studies

 

As a publication of the National Library of Iran, we are committed to accept works that contribute to the advancement of the knowledge and improvement of library services at a national level.‌‌ The space of this journal is devoted to genuine and well-documented research and analysis which we value and welcome.

 

a. Editorial Ethics

The editor and the editorial staff are committed to treat submitted works equally and process all submissions in a similar way. The decision to start review process is based on the compatibility of the content and structure of the submission as spelled out by Guide for Authors disregard of any consideration such as the identity and status of the author/s.

The editor and the editorial staff take every possible measures to ensure that submissions benefit from review by impartial reviewers of highest level of expertise. They do their best to avoid any form of bias and conflict of interest.

Prevention of all forms of academic misconduct is another commitment. We take every measure to assure originality and accuracy all submissions. After a work is published, if we suspect occurrence of misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, breach of copyright, and false citation, we will take assertive action.

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted paper will not be used by the editor or the members of the editorial board for their own research purposes without the author's explicit written consent.

 

b. Reviewers ethics

The time and the energy that our reviewers spend on critical evaluation of works referred to them, guarantees the equality of the content of our journal. We deeply appreciate the value of their contribution important service to knowledge and the profession.

We expect that our reviewers assess manuscript critically but constructively and, once find it suitable for publication in our journal, prepare detailed comments about the manuscript within the timeframe to help the author improve their work.

Other cases we expect our reviewers consider are:

• If you find yourself having any interest in the publication or otherwise of the work referred to you, to avoid conflict of interest, please inform the editor immediately before starting the review.

• If you suspect any kind of academic misconduct, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, breach of copyright, and false citation in the work referred to you please inform the editor immediately.

• If by any reason you find it impossible to review the work, we would appreciate if you suggest alternative reviewer/s.

• Consider the work sent to you as a confidential document, i.e. not share it with others and no make reference to its data and/or findings.

• If by any chance you identify the authors, do not communicate directly with them and do not inform them that you are reviewing their work.

• Do not pass on the work referred to you to another reviewer.

• If you find that the work is under consideration in any other publication, please inform the editor.

• Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.

 

c. Authors Ethics

We appreciate for choosing our journal for publishing your work. As the corresponding author, please read the following paragraphs and consider them in your interaction with our editorial:

• We expect that your submission is the result of original research and all principles of scientific integrity are observed in including, but not limited to, accuracy of data, fair use of others works such as providing precise bibliographical data (See: Writing Style for our citation style). The editorial office reserves the right to take any measure to discover scientific misconduct including plagiarism, data fabrication, breach of copyright, and false citation.

• Make sure that your work has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting or symposium.

• Make sure that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and agreed on the submission of the manuscript to this Journal consider themselves accountable for its content.

• All named authors have made active contribution to the analysis and interpretation of the data and/or the drafting of the paper.

• Authors could be asked to provide the raw data of their study together with the paper for editorial review and should be prepared to make the data publicly available if practicable. In any event, authors should ensure accessibility of such data to other competent professionals for at least ten years after publication (preferably via an institutional or subject-based data repository or other data center), provided that the confidentiality of the participants can be protected and legal rights concerning proprietary data do not preclude their release.

• Manuscripts which have been published as copyrighted material elsewhere cannot be submitted. In addition, manuscripts under review by the journal should not be resubmitted to copyrighted publications. However, by submitting a manuscript, the author(s) retain the rights to the published material. In case of publication they permit the use of their work under a CC-BY license https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/, which allows others to copy, distribute and transmit the work as well as to adapt the work and to make commercial use of it.

• All authors should include a statement disclosing any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed. 

•  When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and to cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper in form of an erratum.
