North BranchJournal Article20120311Purpose: The aim of this study evaluating the performance of the Institute for Intellectual
Development of Children and Young Adults Libraries in Iran, using SWOT for strategic
analysis.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Data was collected using a questionnaire. Views of
managers of libraries in Tehran and all central branches in other provinces as well as users
of the Reference Library in Tehran were surveyed.
Findings: Communication and interactions of the libraries with the Reference Library is
weak. Branch Libraries throughout the country have little interaction with the Reference
library in Tehran. Only few librarians are familiar with foreign languages. Most libraries
don't have enough foreign sources in their collections.
Conclusion: According to the SWOT matrix, with regard to internal factors, the libraries
scored 1.96 out of 4 but in response to external factors they scored 2.34 out of 4.Purpose: The aim of this study evaluating the performance of the Institute for Intellectual
Development of Children and Young Adults Libraries in Iran, using SWOT for strategic
analysis.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Data was collected using a questionnaire. For analysis of demographic data, descriptive
statistical techniques were employed. For the data related to satisfaction, Bazargan et
al Spectrum was implemented using SPSS application. Content analysis was carried out
to identify problems.
Findings: An average of 3/11 indicates a fairly good level of user satisfaction. Most of the
problems and more important suggestions by users relates to difficulties regarding recording
texts and audio files.
Conclusion: Although Users are fairly satisfied with treatment of staff, there are serious
problems with the building design, space, and guiding signs in the library’s department
for visually impaired users. Findings confirm previous research. Issues
of 19 agricultural journal titles published by the Iranian Department of Agriculture
are counted, and their types, color, and size are recorded then analyzed using descriptive
statistics.
Findings: 22% of 4873 articles published in 422 issues had at least one image. Overall
6012 images were identified. Around 53% are colored. Microscopic images comprised
53% (3297 frames) of the total. Around 38% are medium in size.
Conclusion: The sheer number of images has increased, but not in proportion to the
number of articles. Correspondence to the citation rank (impact factor) of journals and
the number of articles with image is varied over years. Subject grouping of journals also
indicates that the ratio of papers with images in medicine and botanical sciences journals
is higher.Purpose: Identifying quantity of Images in Journals Published by the Iranian Department
of Agriculture, 2001- 2008
Design/Methodology/Approach: Survey and content analysis methods are employed. Out of 300 members in the sample, 261
completed and returned the questionnaire. Findings: All dimensions of the customer satisfaction except for ‘conducting opinion poll’
were over the average. Higher averages belonged to ‘developing service charter’, and ‘transparency
and documentation of service provision’.
Conclusion: Customer satisfaction program in all of its dimensions is implemented rather
successfully and above the average. Some items in the ‘service charter dimension’ are directly
taken from Islamic instructions.
