Applying Integrative Levels in Knowledge Organization Systems
Purpose: To describe theory of integrative levels and apply it in knowledge organization and design of information retrieval tools. Results: Integrative levels in knowledge organization are organized by entities and phenomena. World phenomena in this classification scheme are organized by natural order of integrative levels. It is also possible to recognize new hierarchical relations between terms based on theory of integrative levels in thesauri in addition to basic relationships (NT, BT, and RT). Conclusion: Knowledge levels can be explained and described by the theory of integrated levels. The field of knowledge organization suffers from lack of theoretical foundations thus applying scientific and philosophical theories provides opportunities for further research and opens new horizons in knowledge organizations’ studies.

To Survey Transliteration of Persian Articles’ References in Iranian Journal Databases
Purpose: To investigate Persian references of Persian articles transliterated into Latin available in Iranian journal databases.
Methodology: Content analysis and survey among 30 selected journals of Iran Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Ministry of Health and Medical Education and Islamic Azad University between 2005 and 2015. Only issues having references transliterated into Latin were studied and analysed using descriptive statistics.
Results: Mistakes in transliteration into Latin are seen in writing name and family name, article title, date of publication and journal name. The wrong transliteration of author names, mistakes in converting dates from Solar to Georgian calendar, incomplete article title and wrong abbreviations of journal title are the main mistakes.
Conclusion: Transliteration of Persian references into Latin causes increase in retrieval time, less accuracy, failure in finding the resources and reduction of impact factor in Iranian journal databases.

Is It Necessary to Create Organizational Memory in National Library and Archives of Iran
Purpose: To explore the extent to which National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) as a cultural centre pay attention to organizational knowledge and staff take the creation of organizational memory as a database to store, authorize and utilize knowledge important. Methodology: Using a self-designed questionnaire, data on attain, share, apply and store knowledge was gathered. The population consisted of 253 staffs with graduate degrees, all of which were surveyed and 248 filled questionnaires were analysed. Face and content validity were confirmed and Cronbach Alpha calculated as 0.702. Chi-square test was used. Results: 26.2% of staff affirmed that they acquire the required information verbally from the unit executer, however tend to have it documented and electronically. Almost everyone evaluated the effectiveness of knowledge and experience sharing in work processes above the average and their tendency toward sharing knowledge was high. Managerial strategies support the application of knowledge and experiences lower than average. The main reason is the negligence of skilled staff and organizational knowledge. Organizations as Professional-Specialized Social Networks: The Situation of People and Knowledge
Purpose: To introduce the metaphor oforganization as a professional - specialized social network site (SNS) and explain its role in shaping staff’s paradigm as a new platform for organizational interactions.
Methodology: First the range of concepts involved in a professional – specialized SNS were identified by examining an Iranian network. Based on the concepts extracted and drawing on the evidence from the literature, the role of such networks as a platform for managing organizational communications explained.
Results: The metaphor of organization as a professional – specialized SNS views the organization as a) a community of specialized individuals and groups for establishing professional interactions; b) a collaborative environment for generating, organizing and sharing organizational information and knowledge; and c) a supportive tool for professional and job-related services.Professional – specialized SNSs can change the paradigms in an organization in a way that people and knowledge would play more important roles in achieving organizational goals.

The Comparison between Web Browsing Strategies of Users with Different Verbal, Imagery and Bimodal Cognitive Styles
Purpose: To compare behaviour and browsing strategies of users with different cognitive styles. Methodology: Comparative approach. Self-designed questionnaire employed to gather demographic information of 90 BA students and Riding's (1991) Cognitive Style Analysis to assess the cognitive styles. Each participant took three tasks in two websites. All the interactions were recorded for analysis. Results: Regarding browsing, novice users make use of the back button more and open less windows. There were no differences between search behavior of verbal and imagery users. Using back button is influenced by cognitive style and experience of users; verbal, bimodal and imagery novice users respectively make more use of the back button. Regarding browsing strategies, experienced users apply a more structured strategy. There were no differences between verbal and imagery users in terms of browsing strategies. User’s cognitive style and experience effects on their browsing strategies such that novice imagery users browse disorderly and experienced imagery users more orderly. Conclusion: Paying attention to users’ browsing strategies and behaviour can positively affect improvement of supportive tools and enhance users' skills and experience levels. Using of information literacy training courses and multimedia and interactive systems is recommended.

Training Needs Assessment of librarians of the National Library and Archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Objective: To review, clarify and prioritize the training needs of librarians of National Library and Archives of I.R.I in occupational groups of Information, Providing, Listing and Organizing. Method: This research was applied and the used method was descriptive survey. Statistical population of this study consisted of 400 librarians of National Library and Archives and on the basis of Morgan standard tables, 120 people were randomly chosen as a sample from among the three occupational groups. For assessment of existing and desired capabilities and professional skills of librarians three questionnaire were used. The validity of questionnaire was confirmed by librarianship experts and reliability coefficient was accepted by using Cranach’s alpha. The results of study by using descriptive statistics (Frequency, percentage and mean) and inferential statistics (Kalmogorov-Smiranov Test, Paired Sample t test) were analyzed and eventually priorities were determined. Findings: occupational group of Information with %45.5 had the most needs and the groups of Providing with % 29.9 and Listing and Organizing with %24.7 had respectively the second and third priorities as educational needs. In the group of Information from the total of 35 skills , 30 skills were instantaneous need and 5 skills were Ongoing need. In the group of Providing from the total of 23 skills , 3 skills were instantaneous need and 20 skills were Ongoing need and in the group of Listing and Organizing , from the total of 22 skills , 11 skills were instantaneous need and 8 skills were Ongoing need. Conclusion: The most basic step in developing the implementation of the training program, is proper implementation of the assessment process and using its outcome. Despite a large extent of the respondents was familiar with most skills, but they announced them as educational needs. Thus, it is worthy to be considered for retraining in case of deterioration of the current situation.

The Hubs and Features of Inscription in Khorasan: Timurid and Safavid Eras
Purpose: To recognize hubs and manners of inscription during Timurid and Safavid eras in Khorasan which is the most important hub for inscription and transcription throughout different historical eras in Iran.
Methodology: Desk and manuscript research. 45000 colophon (the scribe) of manuscripts being catalogued in Astan Quds Razavi library were searched, 44 of which have been written in Khorasan and during Timurid and Safavid eras. The selected manuscripts were analysed based on their inscription hubs and features.
Results: Twenty-eight 28 (64%) manuscripts were related to scholars’ hubs, 10 (23%) to ministerial and 6 (13%) to binding hubs. In scholar hub, writing annotation (89%) and correction (92%) are seen; in ministerial hub, calligraphy (90%) and handwriting quality (supreme and excellent) (70%) and ornaments (80%); and in binding hub, calligraphy (67%) and handwriting quality (good) (67%) and misspelling (100%) are seen.
Conclusion: Studying inscription characteristics of each hub helps in discovering goals and reasons for writing and the location of each manuscript.
