Purpose: User interfaces of 15 national digital libraries' web pages of are examined in order to develop criteria for the Iranian national digital library user interface. Methodology/Approach: Data was collected using a checklist of 10 criteria and 114 components to evaluate the pages. Findings: The top three that observed the criteria were the American Memory Library (70/5%) the French (62%) and the Australian (61/5%). Digital library of Italy (40%) was found at the bottom. Criteria regarding language (with 98/5%) were observed most while 'user control' with 6/5% was observed the least. Conclusion: The highest scores came from observing the general criteria of language and simplicity. Specific criteria were not observed by most of the libraries studied. A framework for implementing the criteria to the Iranian national digital library is suggested.

Purpose: Developing the topical model of Iranian LIS theses and dissertations to help current and future students in topic selection and prevention of repetitive works. Methodology/Approach: Library and Delphi methods were utilized for this research. A study of previous research as well as subject coverage of LISTA databases resulted in identifying 6 main classes: librarianship, bibliometrics, information retrieval, information management, cataloging and classification. Then, in order to determine subdivisions for the 6 classes, Persian Subject headings, LCSH, UNESCO Thesaurus, ASFA (The Persian cultural Thesaurus), NEMA (another Persian Thesaurus), as well as Dewey and LC classification schemes were consulted. Findings:Iranian postgraduate LIS students should consider the present map in selecting their topics. Conclusion: To avoid repetition, professionals and students are advised to pay attention to this map.

Purpose: This paper investigates correctness of data structure in the bibliographic records of National Library of Iran’s OPAC database. Method/Research Design: A checklist was designed and a total number of 1100 records were selected and analysed out of nearly 700000 bibliographic records, using Kukran sampling method. Findings: There were errors in 48 percent of the records. Major errors included lack of compliance with the Unicode standards, as well as spelling errors. Minor errors were assigning wrong classification codes as well as errors in descriptive cataloging of books. The highest rate of errors occurr Class N and class C in LC classification were respectively the most and least erroneous classes. Conclusion: It should be mentioned that errors were often occurred as a consequence of mistake and haste in data input step not lack in cataloging procedures. Thus, there should be some concerns about correct data input for which some suggestions have been presented at the end of the paper.

Purpose: Compares theories and approaches in the field of citation behavior. Methodology: Review of the literature in the field of citation behavior. Findings: Analysts consider motivations and behaviors in different ways. Merton believes scholars cite only when it is logical, whereas Cronin claims that citation is not separate from contexts and backgrounds. Different approaches have led to the formation of two theories: 1) Normative Theory of Citation Behavior and, 2) Social Constructive Citation Behavior Theory. Recent research has revealed other motivations including hope for reward and threat of punishment, tendency to observe principles of ethics and integrity, and to identifying self with distinguished authors. Conclusion: Modern approaches propose concepts not related to special motivations. Yet, these concepts implicitly confirm the validity of normative

Geographic Information System for building a library of classes. Method/Research Design: For data collection descriptive survey was employed. For implementation data was entered into ArcGIS software by which analysis was carried out. For display the results on the library floor map design method was used. Findings: Location of holdings and equipment was determined as a result of searching in the database on the plans of different levels of the library and documentation center. The proposed model id developed using GIS based on the implementation reality through different stages. Conclusion: The proposed model can help determining the exact location of equipment and holdings in a time saving fashion especially during inventory check process. Also, locating equipment and holdings would be possible by searching in the system. The model can help to building design.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the state of knowledge sharing among medical science academics as well as the relation between organizational culture and knowledge sharing in a "soft" setting. Methods: Statistical population consisted of 423 faculty members of medical research centers and 12423 faculty members worked at medical universities in Iran during 2012-2013. Conducting a stratified random sampling, 423 faculty members were selected to answer a questionnaire. Face and content validity were confirmed by experienced experts. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each scale dimension was greater than 0.9, so the reliability of the instrument was confirmed. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics, statistical software SPSS15, Amos Graphics and Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used. Findings: Organizational culture 13% of respondents view the knowledge sharing appropriate, while 48% consider it less appropriate. Conclusion: Organizational culture significantly conditions internal and external knowledge sharing.
