Purpose: This study aims to identify the descriptive data and bibliographic relationships appliedin the bibliographic records of digital libraries of Iran. The accordance rate of thesedescriptive data, which have been created according to Anglo American Cataloging Rules, ismeasured by Resource Description and Access (RDA) standard.Design/Methodology/Approach: The present study enjoys practical descriptive-surveymethod. The method of data collection is observation and analysis. The data gathering toolsconsist of 3 checklists.Findings: This study identifies that the elements associated with the areas like "the artist titleand description", "the type of resource ", "the publication areas" and "the Physical descriptionarea" are mostly applied among the 8 bibliographic description areas. The survey on bibliographicrelationships applied in the bibliographic records of digital libraries show that theEquivalence Relationship and Derivative Relationship are widely used and the application ofAccompanying Relationship and Sequential Relationship are at a minimum. Comparing thecharacteristics of the entities of “work, expression, manifestation and item” based on ResourceDescription and Access (RDA) Standard with the descriptive data present in bibliographicrecords in digital libraries prove that most of the characteristics defined in the entities of “work, expression and item” are not available in the mentioned records, but about the characteristicsof the entity of “manifestation” a little accordance with the mentioned records is available. Conclusion: Considering the fact that each of the characteristics of the entities of ResourceDescription and Access (RDA) standard is defined based on the requirements defined in its 2basic conceptual models i.e. Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) andFunctional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD) and each of them can cover some ofthese requirements, the concept and function of each required data element needs to be specificallydefined and classified, therefore they can be properly applied in bibliographical records.

Purpose: This research focuses on the co-authorship network of 313 papers published inthe quarterly journal of Iran National Studies on Librarianship and Information Organizationduring the years of 2007-2011 by applying social networks analysis indexes.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study is a scientomerics type of survey whichenjoys the analytical methods to analyze the researchers’ co-authorship network usingSocial Network Analysis Indexes. Configuration of the studied co-authorship network isexamined by applying the network analysis macro-level metrics such as density, clusteringcoefficient, networks components and the mean distance. On the other hand, networkanalysis micro-level metrics such as degree, betweenness and closeness, and also the productivityindex were applied to evaluate the performance of its statistical population i.e.each of the researchers and universities whose published works are included in this coauthoringnetwork.Findings: The findings distinguish Saeed Rezaei Sharifabadi, Sedigheh Mohammad Esmaeil,Rahim Alijani, Ali Beiranvand , Noorollah Karami, Farideh Osareh and AbdolrasoulJowkar as the leading researchers among the statistical population who have collaboratedin the studied co-authoring network. On the other hand, Islamic Azad University ofTehran Science and Research Branch, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and Payame-Noor Univercity play the key role in this co-authoring network from the view point ofindexes of production and centralization. Conclusion: The studied co-authoring network formed by the mentioned articles featuresa small world network and also a scale-free network. In addition the theory of “six degreesof separation” holds true for it.

Purpose: This study aims to review the status of linking fields in Rasa Software and theirrate of application in Persian bibliographic records.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study enjoys survey method by applying a researcher-made checklist.Findings: This study identifies the difference between the definitions of linking fields representedby UNIMARC (Universal Machine Readable Cataloging) and Rasa Software. It also distinguishes that the required linking fields are applied in 21% of Persian BibliographicRecords. Conclusion: The results claim that the rate of applying linking fields is low in Persian bibliographicrecords. The proper use of UNIMARC linking fields, considering both properapplication of their definitions in the software and their proper use for displaying bibliographicrelations, can pave the way for linking the records.

Data gathering and analysis is done based on quantitative method.Findings: Simultaneous application of lyrics and audio in retrieving musical pieces basedon the sense emanated from them is a challenging research field in information sciencestudies, which can be surveyed, tested and generalized in the web environment. Retrievalcategory covers all subject forms and areas including music information retrieval. Results: In addition to the four well-known senses attributable to musical works i.e. happiness, sadness, angriness, relaxation, there are also other important senses which should beidentified in the future studies. It is also necessary to take into consideration the technical, legal and financial issues as the margins and limitations and of such investigations.

Purpose: Due to the importance of hospital websites, the present research carries out awebometric study on the websites of the world's top hospitals.Design/Methodology/Approach: The best medical websites around the world were identifiedin each country through “webometrics” website. The significant qualities of thesetop websites such as the number of pages, extent of interlinking, self-linking, the websiteimpact factor and also its relation with each country's gross domestic product (GDP) areanalyzed by applying webometrics formulas and referring to AltaVista search engine.Findings: According to the findings of this research, the USA hospitals websites are in thefirst place considering the number of pages, interlinking and self-linking. Considering thetotal number of links, Romanian hospitals websites are on top. The top websites of Iranhospitals from the view point of the number of pages, the number of links, the number ofinternal links and the feature of self-linking, respectively rank the 40th, the 38th, the 44thand 41st in the world. The obtained data displays the weak performance of Iran hospitalswebsites. Investigating the relationship between each country's GDP and its medical websitesranking indicates that this relationship is significant. Conclusion: This study notices that many countries lack any high-standard medical websitefor their hospitals. Some even do not have any medical website. The performance ofsome others is very poor too.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to survey how knowledge management principlesin fields such as collecting, organization, human resources, distribution, and conservationhave been observed in manuscript departments of Iran’s libraries.Design/Methodology/Approach: The research population is comprised of all present 44manuscript departments in Iran’s libraries. The required data was gathered from all officials, experts, and staff of manuscript departments via questionnaire. Finally, the data wasanalyzed through SPSS software.Findings: The findings show that the average of indices in collecting manuscripts is 37/92from 45, in organizing manuscripts is 28/90 from 33, in distributing data of manuscripts is36/11 from 57, in human resources is 46/74 from 60, and in conservation of manuscripts is37/22 from 42. This statistics represents that the average of obtained indices are lower thanthe expected standards of knowledge management. Conclusion: The studied indices of knowledge management are applied to an averagelevel by manuscript departments of some libraries but several others observe them to avery limited extent. This study represents some solutions to achieve the optimal conditions.
